Justice for Downtown Workers

The Economic Justice Coalition has launched a new initiative, based on the custodial and food service living wage campaigns on campus.  Restaurant and hotel workers deserve better wages, better benefits, and better treatment by their employers.  Our first step is to engage workers outside of their work sites and get their feedback on working conditions.  To access this survey, please click here.

Two basic options are provided.  Consistent with overall Department of Labor data, there are over 25,000 workers in Athens-Clarke County in similar jobs who make less than a living wage.  In cases of wage theft and maltreatment on the job, EJC will propose actions that result in retribution.  On the other hand, in some cases, employers may be models that the others can follow.  If they exist, please help us find them.
