You can check your registration status, find your polling place, and request absentee ballots by visiting the Georgia Secretary of State's "My Voter" Page.
Registering to Vote
Who is eligible to register?
You can register to vote in Georgia if:
- You are a US citizen
- A legal resident of the county in which you're registering to vote
- At least 18 years old on election day. (You must be at least 171/2 years old to register.
- Not serving a sentence for a felony involving moral turpitude.
- You have not been found to be mentally incompetent by a court of law.
How do I register to vote?
To register to vote, simply visit your local board of elections, or visit the Georgia Secretary of State's web site to register to vote online or print a blank registration application.
Georgia's Voter ID Law
Georgia's Voter ID law requires all voters to show one of six acceptable forms of photo identification in order to vote at the polls or early at your local board of elections. Note: You do not need to show photo ID in order to vote with an absentee (mail) ballot.
Accepted forms of photo ID
- Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID.
- A Georgia driver's license. (Expired licenses are accepted.)
- A valid employee photo ID from any government agency or department, federal, state, or local.
- Valid US passport.
- Valid US military photo ID.
- Valid tribal photo ID.
Getting a Voter ID Card
If you do not have a valid photo ID, you may obtain a free Voter ID Card that will enable you to vote on election day or early at your board of elections. To get a Voter ID Card, visit your local Board of Elections office or Georgia Department of Driver Services. You will need to provide the following:
- A photo ID or non-approved photo ID that includes your full legal name and date of birth.
- Documentation showing your date of birth.
- Evidence that you are a registered voter.
- Proof of your name and address.
